Description

An exceptional, investment-grade Edwardian sterling silver and real tortoiseshell boudoir carriage clock dating to 1906. This exquisite timepiece represents the absolute pinnacle of early 20th-century British luxury craftsmanship combined with a high-grade mechanical movement. What elevates this specific clock into a rare tier of collectibility is its pristine, fully documented provenance. It comes accompanied by its original retail purchase invoice from June 2004 from the prestigious luxury dealer Ziegler (Arteus Palace AG), located on the world-renowned Bahnhofstrasse in Zürich, Switzerland, where it was originally purchased for CHF 12,500. The Case & Materials Front Panel: Rich, deep-mottled genuine tortoiseshell beautifully inlaid with neoclassical sterling silver piqué wire work, featuring fine floral swags, a central wreath, and an elegant urn motif. Frame & Base: Solid sterling silver framework featuring an arched top handle and classic bun feet. Stamped with clear British hallmarks on the base confirming its origin (London, 1906). Dial: Flawless white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and delicate spade hands. The enamel is perfectly preserved with no hairline cracks or spidering. The Movement Stamped "FRENCH MOVEMENT" on the backplate. During this golden era of horology, premier English silversmiths routinely imported these ultra-reliable, high-grade brass movements from France to case in luxury housings. Features a rear regulation slot flanked by "S" (Slower) and "F" (Faster) indicators. [Seller Note: Insert whether it is currently ticking/running smoothly, and if you have the winding key]. Condition Report Beautifully preserved vintage condition. The tortoiseshell panels are structurally sound with spectacular translucent depth when caught in the light, showing no lifting or major cracking. The silver exhibits a gorgeous, honest patina that beautifully frames the piqué inlay. Dimensions Aproximate 9cm x 6 cm wide.
