Universal Genève 18kt Half-Chronometer Pocket Watch – 1906 Gold Medal Winner – Provenance: Capt. Sandro Faini, WWII Resistance Hero Exceptional Universal Genève pocket watch in solid 18kt gold, Half Chronometer model, awarded the prestigious Watchmaker’s Gold Medal in 1906. The award is engraved on the inner lid, which is also crafted in solid 24kt gold. This timepiece is 100% original and in working condition (see timegrapher photo), though a routine service is recommended to ensure preservation. The case shows three very small dents, barely noticeable, which could be easily corrected during servicing due to the malleable nature of 18kt gold. However, given their historical significance, it is not recommended to remove them (explanation below). The asking price reflects this. Dated between 1907 and 1929, the dial is signed by Felice Sartori, a distinguished watch retailer based in Palermo, Italy. Historical Provenance This watch once belonged to Captain Sandro Faini, a decorated WWII partisan leader and commander of the 4th Valtoce Brigade in Northern Italy. He carried it in his pocket during the final days of the Resistance in Milan, including the liberation from the German SS tank division and the capture of SS Colonel Walter Rauff. According to Capt. Faini himself, the dents on the case are the result of those dramatic events.
